Show All Redirections
Often, a link is completed through a sequence of redirections. Using the default setting (OFF), LinkAlarm will attempt to follow all redirections reporting only those that result in an alarm. By setting this control ON, LinkAlarm will report all redirections and not attempt to follow them. This is useful if your server deals with errors by redirecting to another page. eg an error page or your home page. This special control can be used to show external links which will redirect. Use the final destination in your HTML to give your visitors a quicker link.
Allow Strict Comments Only
Popular browsers take a more liberal interpretation of HTML comments than that provided by the W3 specification. In the default setting (OFF) LinkAlarm attempts to mimic typical browser behavior. Setting this control ON, LinkAlarm will adhere to the W3 specification for comments. See this discussion for more information.
Adhere to Strict Link Structure
As with comments, the popular browsers have adopted an interpretation of certain relative URL structures that fall outside the W3 specifications. In the default setting (OFF) LinkAlarm attempts to mimic typical browser behavior. Setting this control ON, LinkAlarm will adhere to the W3 specification. See this discussion for more information.
Test FrontPage Extensions
If your site is developed using FrontPage, your HTML will probably have embedded code to take advantage of the FrontPage server extensions. If your server does not have FrontPage extension capabilities LinkAlarm will report alarms on these links. The default (OFF) behaviour will not report these errors. If your server has FrontPage extensions enabled, then you should enable this setting.
